Do you want to get better results without spending any more money? Let me give you a few helpful hints. These 3 are from a set of 31 tips that I came up with to help people who want to know more about how to make better videos. You can decide for yourself if they work for you.
#4 Make eye contact with the lens
The people watching your videos are going to be looking at images captured by your lens played back on their screen. Just like during face–to-face interactions, looking a person in the eye establishes a connection that inspires trust and feels more personal and intimate. You do not have to stare your viewers down the whole time you are on camera, just make sure you check in with them often by looking right into the lens.
#24 Introduce yourself first
Assume that people are seeing you for the first time with each video you make. Start by introducing yourself so that they can get familiar with who you are. This will help them to connect your name with your face. One of the benefits of this simple habit is that when people (who have watched your videos) see your name other places they will feel as if they know you better.
#16 Reading can make it look like you don’t know what you are talking about
If you feel that you have to have every word crafted to best convey your message, memorize your script and practice saying it aloud until it flows off your lips like you speak those words easily, every day. Otherwise, having a list of main points that you want to convey will work well to give you the freedom to talk more naturally and off-the-cuff as you would in ordinary conversations. If you read directly from a script it can make you seem ill prepared and uninformed. Unless you are using a teleprompter (and have the experience to use it well), it will be obvious from the movement of your eyes that you are reading from a script.
Conclusion
People who watch your videos are going to respond better to you when they feel that you sincerely know what you are talking about. They’ll be able to tell if you are sincere in an instant. To get your messages communicated on camera you do not have to be perfect, you just have to be honest and use the same type of skills that you would use when you are in the same room as the people you are talking to.
The major difference between being on video, instead of in person, is that you do not get that instant feedback energy to feed off of. When talking face-to-face people tend to conform their delivery to how it is being received by the audience.
With video recording, the big advantage is that you get to run through your presentation as many times as you need to, plus you can always edit out the parts or complete versions that do not work well. And, of course, your messages can be watched over and over again by many people without you having to present it again.
